Yes, a gigantic super ion cannon of doom, not a small one. And even if it could, it's really killing the purpose of having shields at all. You should make it able to do like 40-50 damage on shields, and none on anything else, and make it expensive.

Well, at least think about it. You shouldnt be able to remove 5000 shields at the cost of 125 credits.

well, the only two ships on the market that have 5,000 shields are the viscount and executer, and if you had even been bothered to read their posts (I know, it's a stretch, people reading my posts) then you would have saw that it says ion cannons only do 500 damage. as for upgraded ships, boo hoo, upgrade your hull instead

Anyways, it breaks combat, because it'll all be hull on hull. But if you dont want to change it's stats, i could come to an agreement with all the other players to stop the use of ion cannons, and the removal of ion cannons from their ships.

The weapons post? It would take 5 minutes to lower the stats a little, and maybe increase the price. But never mind, seems we'll have to reach an agreement instead.

I can drop your shield and you can drop mine. What is unfair? And why are you so woried i thought you were going to stay out of this conflict? The rebelion wont attack you in risk of losing a potential ally.

Yes, but the unfair thing is, i can drop your shields even if you have 10,000 and you can drop mine, even if i only have 1,000. So the money you've spent upgrading those shields will be wasted, and your defences will be at the same level as me.
So in the end, it all boils down to the hull, and shields are completely useless.But if you refuse to change the ion cannons stats to something that makes sense, couldnt you at least make hull upgrades?

In the end, they both have the same protection. The only difference in protection is that you cant knock out the kilimanjaro's guns, but if you add some more guns to a custom design and completely ignore making shields, or just make one generator then aim at the kilimanjaro's hull, they'll both have the same protection. Also, before you dismiss this as too little difference, what if i want to make a new design with improved shields? It'll still have the same protection as another cap ship.

oh, well that's not really my concern then. and remember, if your ship is the "weapon's platform of the galaxy" then you don't need shields, and not every ship has ion cannons, and I'm not admin so it's not my concern anyways. Also, think about this, Jedi ships can have jedi shadow bombs, and there are bunker buster bombs. you want those removed too because they give an advantage of space over land?

And jedi shadow bombs need level 6 force mastery, meaning they can be launched by 2 people right now, and even then it's player only. Ion cannons on the other hand, can, for the price of 125 to add it to your ships, cancel out shields completely, no matter how many shield points you have.
Anyways, you guys seem really entrenched about this, so how about a hull upgrade instead? It was needed anyway.

and for the bunker busters, my point was you invest a lot into vehicles and things, which are suddenly rendered useless because you can conquer all of that with a single cap ship, and the ship ill never once be fired upon

That would be because you didnt invest enough in your fleet. And you cant target vehicles with bunker busters, only citys. When it comes to shields, no matter how much you invest in them, they will be wiped out by a single shot.
And no, i dont think you added hull upgrades, only shield upgrades (which is why i'm complaining, only having shield upgrades, but them being useless makes it impossible to increase your ship's protection)

like i said, not every ship has ion cannons, and in the comat sims we ran, shields basically would have just dragged out the conflict longer
